Is there a way to force mode 3 on all games including future games? It seems that some games require mode 3 and it would just be convenient to have it enabled at all time. Would ENABLING MODE 3 PREVENT some games from working? Also, what exactly is MODE 3?

EDIT: Also I'm talking about HDLoader for clarification.

Here is what they are :

Slow HDD access: Yes or No
Disable DVD9 support: Yes or NO
Kill HDL after launch: Yes or No
    Date/timefix 2: Yes or No
    Date/timefix 3: Yes or No
Disable network support: Yes or No
Disable CzC patch: Yes or No
Soul Caliber 2 / Suikoden V: Yes or no

As far as I know there is NO WAY to set it permanent for all /all time. You must manually set it..

What does it mean to kill HDL after launch? I assume that is mode 3. Does HDL stay in the memory or something unless I enable that option?

Yes, by enabling that mode "3", HDL will be deleted from the memory right after the game boots up

if you install games to HDD via winhiip then you have the option to select which modes to pre-set.

Part of HDL always stays in memory when playing a game from HDD. It has to be that way in order for the CDVD access requests of the game to instead lead to similar access of the game partition on HDD. So the CDVD-emulating device drivers of HDLoader must always remain resident.

What is 'killed' however is some other parts of HDLoader, which some games check for as part of their anti-mod and anti-copy protection. But while this 'killing' allows some games to run which would otherwise fail, it will also stop some games for working properly, as those games do things that would require the 'killed' parts of HDL to be active, in order to work properly.

That is why a 'mandatory mode 3' setting would be a very bad idea.

As for HDL use in general, I just hope you are aware that OPL is a better choice.

    Best regards: dlanor

Specifically, most game collections that have the games split into multiple elf files need mode three disabled, or they will try to go to the CD when you select a game.
