HDLoader 0.8b loader issues.
HDLoader 0.8b loader issues. –
hey guys. i apologise in advance for my questions but i feel that the circumstances that are occuring are odd
i bought a seagate 400gb hd, plugged it into my network adapter which i got recently, put in hdloader 0.8b (this is not an original disk) and it booted up. got to the main screen, put in a back up game, but wouldnt allow it to be installed, says "this is not a valid ps2 game". not only that but sometimes when it boots up it hangs on the screen which has all the button presses to enter the 'umd' settings, dont quote me.
anyway, i rang a guy who does hdd installs for ps2's and said copied versions of hdloader have never worked and must have an original. is this true?
and if it isn't true, why is it that the games wont install?
to add further confusion, i used WinWhiip and put a game on the hard drive BUT when it booted it up it came up saying there was some hard drive error and then it got to a certain loading screen and wouldnt go past.
i hope someone can help. thanks very much for your patience.
First question is does your PS2 have a mod chip, do you have any way to boot ps2 game backups? If not, then you won't be able to boot homebrew applications like HDLoader, unless you use the memory cad exploit trick with a ps1 disc to run a program like uLaunchELF, which allows you to launch .ELF files (homebrew software). If you have the original HDLoader disc, meaning it's a factory pressed disc, then you can use that without having to exploit your PS2, but the problem with that is you won't benefit from any of the HDLoader updates/patches.

You have to format it according to the size of your Hard Drive. If it's over 137GB, then you have to format it in 48-bit mode, if below then format it in 28-bit mode, which is the default in WinHIIP.

hey mate. yep i do have a modchip in the system. and i made sure i formatted it in 48 bit due to it being a 400gb hard drive size.
which game was it? check the compatability list cause some games just wont work from hdd. does hdloader get to the game selection screen? if so highlight the game and press "select" this will take you to the mode screen. try some different modes to see if it starts then.
