I've tried loading 3 or 4 different games from hdloader, all supposedly compatible with hdloader. However, whenever they try to access the memory card they either freeze, or simply create a corrupt file that can't be used, or even deleted. I'm using an official Sony ps2 memory card, and a model 3900 ps2 (chubby).

So far I've experienced this problem with:
    Front Mission 4
    Wild Arms 5
Jak 3 (using compatibility patch found elsewhere in these forums)

Does anybody have any recommendations for fixing this, or any ideas what's going on?

Well, first lets try to figure out if its the saves themselves as the problem or if its from the games running thru HDL.

Do those saves work if you use the retail game discs?

Did you download the saves or were they saves you made from the original discs?

Do other games save/load ok from the same MC those saves dont work from?

Is the MC nearly full or is there enough free space for those saves to be added to?

Did you use AR Max to transfer the saves if they were downloaded from the net?

These are saves created while running the game with hdloader. In other words, they're virgin saves.

How were the games ripped to HDLoader? If there was some error in the rip, it could be corrupting the data when trying to save.

If you want help to figure out the problem, more info will really help to isolate the cause. Its unlikely that HDL is the cause of those bad saves.

Other games work fine with this Memory card. It's my only one, so it better work. *L*
I should have plenty of space for the saves. Got almost 2 megs of free space left still. \

As for the games, I loaded the ISO's over from my PC using HDL dump. Unfortunately, I don't have access to the retail game discs any more, but I do remember being able to save back when I had an original disc for wild arms 5.

I was thinking this might be a common problem with hdloader, given the number of times I've encountered it in my first dozen games with an hdd.

Well it is unfortunate you dont have the original discs anymore, as i suspect your rips are not good and may have some corruption/missing files. I could only suggest re-ripping those games and try again, as those games have not been reported with those problems from HDL, which is why i say it is not caused by HDL, unless you have a specially hacked version or something.

The fact HDL boots those games and runs them is all its suppsed to do, it doesnt dictate how the game itself stores its saves to the MC.

If you MC is in good shape for your other games and has plenty of space, then it's probably not anything caused by the MC

So if you cant re-rip your games to see if they are the problem, im not sure what else there is to help you with.
