    hey all

heres my dilemma, i have my exploited PS2 (with launchelf, hdl.elf, hdld_srv.elf, execftp.elf) all on it...the config and ipconfig.dat for hdldsrv and execftp are set right

    both: 192.168.1.32 255.255.255.0 192.168.1.100

i can get into execftp *sometimes*, i cant get HDL_Dump to work when i have hdldsrv running - however in i can turn off my PS2 w/ the command in HDL_dump, but i cant "attach" my networked ps2 to transfer games

so i know it all connects...but it doesnt stay connected long enough for me to do anything....as all my pings to the ps2 ip are half timed out/half success

my computer setup is a wireless adapter (for internet) and a ethernet card (with a crossover cable to PS2)

    any clues?

I had the same problem. It was great for ftp-ing to my memory card but would freeze after a meg or two to an HDLoader game. Gave up, got a removable drive bay and now use Winhiip to directly copy games to the HD...

On the PC side, try configuring the ethernet card's Link speed/duplex setting from the default "auto" to "Force 100/full" (100mbit, full duplex.) Depending on your card driver this will be a single option or two separate ones. This is found under the advanced tab of the network card configuration screen.

When you use a router it will normally handle autonegotiation fine but with a crossover connection you need to force the setting. Chances are the ethernet card is running half-duplex, which would give you results just like you described.

Hmm.. I wonder if it's your IP settings then. When connecting two windows boxes with a crossover, all you need is to set the IP and subnet mask on each and you don't need to specify a gateway or anything.

I'm assuming the IP is set manually on the PC card? If so, does it only have the IP and subnet mask? Try taking out the gateway if you specified one.

I don't know if IPCONFIG.DAT would work without a gateway address. You probably need to leave it in there or it may revert to 192.168.0.1.

    So maybe something like this:

PC IP: 192.168.1.99, subnet mask 255.255.255.0, all the rest blank.

    PS2 IPCONFIG.DAT: 192.168.1.32 255.255.255.0 192.168.1.99

I've always had both connected to my router so I never had to sort this out.
