How fast can you guys send games from your PC to your PS2 with hdl_dump?

I queued up 3 games this morning at 8am before work. The first was Star Ocean 3 CD1. It JUST NOW finished at 1PM. It took 5 hours sending @ 0.25mb/sec. That's pretty unacceptable.

The second game in the queue, Def Jam: Fight for NY, is blazing @ 2.99mb/sec. Taking an esimated 30 minutes.

What's the variant there that made Star Ocean 3 CD1 so much slower?

Take a look at hdl_dumps front page:
hdl_dump-0.7.3 runs faster! now the average RAW upload speed is about 0,8MB per second and maximum speed (for zero-filled dummy files) is up to 3MB per second; big thanks to Deyv!

However that doesn't explain the bad 0.25 MB/sec... maybe crappy network?

Yea, I'm runnin 0.73 -- do you actually get 0.8mb/sec when you send? I'm on a 100mbit linksys router.. I can send to my three other computers blazing fast.

It's not really a big deal I guess -- but I might consider burning the game and copying it from the console. =/

It depends, I often get about 0.76 MB/s. I haven't seen it drop much below that with 0.7.3. But then, I haven't uploaded much with 0.7.3. YMMV.

i've posted this in another thread but why not use a usb2 hard drive case? i was brtu fustrated with the loading speed over the network and could not wait hours to load a dvd game. after getting the case it only takes minutes.

It happened to me (with command mode) once the transfer rate achieve 3M for around 10 seconds and I really don't know why. But usually it starts from 1.6~2M and end for 0.7~0.8M with an average rate of 0.86~1.2M.
When emule works harder, the hdl_dump transfers slower

Games with big dummy files would benefit from the compression and would run for up to 3MB/sec. When the compression is off (there is a switch in the Makefile), the transfer speed vary between 0,65MB/sec and 0,8MB/sec... but I've no idea how to make it 0,8MB/sec, always.
