hdl_dump can't transfer
hdl_dump can't transfer –
For some reason, starting from a while back, I suddenly lost all ability to transfer games to my PS2 harddrive via the hdl_dump+hdl_svr method. When I try to transfer a game to the harddrive via the network, hdl_dump essentially freezes on 0%. No matter how long I wait, it never continues. Some things, like hdl_dumb, actually freeze up even.
I'm normally using vtecorona's GUI and while it doesn't freeze, when I tell it to cancel, it pops up a window telling me to hit ctrl+c (I presume this is the hdl_dump window previously hidden) but nothing happens and I still have to kill hdl_dump via the task manager to move on. I can still do some tasks such as deleting games. When I hook up the drive to the PC in WinHIIP it seems to work fine and I've even tried using its repair function to try to fix this, but still it doesn't work.
I've also tried using the newer versions of hdl_dump/hdl_svr including 0.8.6 and 0.9.1 but these won't even connect to the PS2 for some reason (I just get an error or network timeout when trying to use them.) I'm still using 0.8.5 because it's the only version that ever really worked for me and it used to be that it worked 100% without issues before.
Here's the weird part though. In desperate frustration, the other day I backed up my entire PS2 harddrive to my PC (which was no easy task because I had to delete a LOT of stuff to make room, some of which I really didn't want to delete if I didn't have to) and then completely "reformatted" the harddrive and reinstalled the games using WinHIIP. Unfortunately, this still didn't fix it.
Any ideas what may be going on?
