hdl_dump->problem / FAPlink->blackscreen
hdl_dump->problem / FAPlink->blackscreen –
Hello guys, I have a little problem...
Ok let's start; First of all I have a email@example.com bios + maxtor 7200 160Go/8Mo, with dms HDD explorer installed.
DMS explorer (fixed icon version) is installed on my memcard with ExecFTPs (0.68), FAPlink (0.87.1), HDAdvance (1.0), and hdl_dump (0.6) as you can see.
HDAdvance and ExecFTPs work perfectly (With flashFXP). But when I run hdl_dump I get this screen and worse when I run FAPlink I get simply a black screen.
I really don't know what's wrong. In /mc/0/BOOT/FAPLINK I have the FAPLINK.ELF + the IPCONFIG.DAT (192.168.0.10 255.255.255.0 192.168.0.1) and same with the /mc/0/BOOT/HDLDUMP folder (HDLDUMP.ELF+IPCONFIG.DAT).
Is there some IRX files or something missing?

You might want to try running those programs, including ExecFTP, over PS2Link 1.23. I don't use FAPLink myself, but HDL_Dump and ExecFTP work perfectly for me when I boot them that way.
Ok I will try that, thanks
Did a quick check for you, and there is nothing wrong with your HDL_dump screen, it's supposed to look that way. I tried FAPLink once and I know it isn't supposed to have a black screen so that is probably not working, but running that over PS2Link works as well. The reason why I run everything over PS2Link is that any program that requires connection to a PC (ExecFTP, FAPLink, etc.) I can run over PS2Link and it saves me space on the memory card.
Ok thanks again espy, I am actually trying on InLink 1.3.7 + ps2link 1.23 I hope that work...
Edit: Yeah! FAPlink is working! hdl_dump still don't work (I get the same screen)
Edit2: Erm... FAPlink error: "Version Check failed". Damn.

Well that are threads that are helping people with FAPLink out there. Don't know anything about it.
But I already told you about HDL_dump, you are supposed to get that screen. It's working correctly. Once that is done, you run HDL_dump from the command line or use a GUI like PS2HDDUTIL 1.8.
Ok, well hdl_dump is acting strange, for example when I type that "hdl_dump inject_dvd 192.168.0.10 "Super dvd game name" C:\1.ISO SLPS_252.93" It says instantly "The operation completed successfully." whereas obviously nothing was completed.
Did you try entering a really short name instead of "Super dvd game name"? Some programs have problems with long partition names during installation. Also, instead of running the command line directly try PS2HDDUTIL 1.8. It's just a fancy GUI for HDL_dump 0.6 with some extra features and who knows, might fix some problems for you. Good luck with everything though.
here's how i use hdl_dump, which has worked for me.
hdl_dump inject_dvd 192.168.0.10 "TEKKEN_4" F:\TEKKEN_4.iso SLUS.xxx.xx
also try doing a fresh format of the drive first, with dms hddformat (you can run the hddformat.elf over inlink)
For some reason formatting with the DMS tool takes up extra space versus formatting wth HD Loader or HD Tool 1.1. I think you only need to use quotation marks if you have a space in your partition title. I use a few letters, no spaces, when titling something then I rename it later once it works.
