Try compatibility modes when loading ripped games that normally load without any.
Spiderman 2: rips fine 3 -> 1gbs
Thug2: rips fine, mode 3 anyway
Thug: rips fine, but needs mode 3
Thps4: rips fine
Thps3: rips awesome, down to cd size from over 2gb
Here's a tutorial: Get the game iso on your computer with either a dvd drive or a hdd and hdl_dump. Open the iso with isobuster, extract the iso layer. Delete the videos (if the game will load fine without them) or replace intro videos with these blank video files. Delete any huge blank files (dummy files). Next, use CDGENPS2 -v3- to rebuild the iso. Don't worry about any settings, just make a new iso. Send it back to your ps2 with faplink, hdl_dump, or winhiip. Then go test it with all modes. Your games should be half size, give or take.
It would be awesome to have a tool that simplifies this process, especially if it was on the ps2. It's best to rip all your games if you have the time.
ive got probably over 100 ripped games on cdr's but some games you do need the movies or you miss out on story line , others like tony hawks or MK dont really matter its all just action
Metal Slug 4 (JAP) rip - YES
