HDL Mode 3 / Kill HDL after Launch - General Q'
HDL Mode 3 / Kill HDL after Launch - General Q' –
can some one please clarify, why this is optional (self choose)?
There are so many Games needing the "Mode 3" to run correctly,
and on the other side so many (if not all) Games that run without Mode 3 also start with Mode 3 enabled.
So wouldn't it be a good thing to make Mode 3 fixed integrated in patched HDL,
and instead have this free space then used by other new yet unreleased patches?
IIRC, when enabled kill HDLoader after launch, in-game soft reset (R1 + R2 + L1 + R2 + Select + Start) will stop working...
I never heard of IGR before,
seems like a LOLevent to me.
Several games stop working with Mode 3 enabled.
Try Midway Arcade Treasures 3 (It might happen with the others, but I can't say, I only have #3) and Rampage: Total Destruction (The Classic Rampage Games.)
I've encountered others, but these are the only ones popping up in my mind at the moment. For me, I've mostly noticed them in games that deal with emulation.
there's no IGR for hdloader
Right, but if Mode 3 is enabled, the game will BSOD with soft reset, at least with the few games i've tried ("MGS3: Subsistence" for sure)...

Some games will reset, but without passing to the boot process, holding R1 + R2 + L1 + R2 + Select + Start. Seems is known as IGR (in game reset), my bad...
this might be a good place to ask this question... but if you'd already transferred something and find that it needed mode 3 compatibility, is there a way to patch a game you've already upped to your PS2, or do you just have to delete it and re-upload it again with mode 3 enabled?
nvm, I figured out you can use WinHIIP to change it after its already installed
