You post everywhere that you have this problem but don't reply to my PM's or posts!
If WinHIIP is reporting a partition alignment problem, then there is one. Have you really played everyone of your installed images to check!
I only know of 2 instances of this being reported out of thousands of users. Please send me the debug files as requested so I can help you out.

the same thing happened to me with winhiip. I was using hdldump prior. I couldnt extract my games, nor could I install new ones on the PC, even though hdloader saw them. SO I had no choice but to erase the drive and start over.

I am posting this same post in all 3 forums where Monky has reported this problem.
Help me to help you, I can't recreate this problem, which means I can't fix it. I have checked & rechecked the code but can't see why this would happen. I need one of you who has this problem to do the following for me:-
Make a note of all the images, sizes & order in which they have been installed.
Turn on Debug Mode and reselect the drive which will create some 'bin' files in the same folder as WinHIIP.
Zip/Rar these up and send them to me (PM me for the address).
If you can't give me all of the above because the fault has already occurred, just do the Debug bit and send me the files.
I would really like to get this problem removed.

Wish I could send you mine, but I deleted them
I assumed they were some sort of cache of the game list so winhiip didnt have to rescan the hard drive again

I have just updated WinHIIP see this post http://psx-scene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25626 (HDL Image Installer (WinHIIP V1.6.1) PC->PS2 HD)

Well I used your suggestion, and I got a response, and now WinHIIP will correctly calculate the elusive partition checksum that caused HDL to regenerate the Settings file every time it booted after WinHIIP. I still have some more work to do on this yet though as someone was reporting that the partitions appear without correct icons using the Sony HDD browser. Being in the UK with a date of March 2005 for the official release it may take me some time

    Hi,
I don't have a MOD chip installed in my PS2, but I was wondering if I could copy the ISO files (of a given game) using WinHIIP software.

I haven't tried this yet, but I would like to know if it is possible? I mean it would show up under the HDLoader game, wouldn't it?

If not, what is the best way to copy over (FTP maybe?) my ISO files to PS2's HDD, so I can play them from HDLoader? (and being able to play them, without a MOD chip installed)

    Your insights are greatly appreciated.

Yes, you can install backupz (yeah, right) with Windows-based installer program and it will appear in HD Loader list. Some programs support networking installations too, but you should run the server part on the PS2 first (using independence exploit for example).

Check the stickies list on top of the HDD forum.
