HDL Dumb Server Failures
HDL Dumb Server Failures –
04-11-2009,03:34 AM
I've recently received my memory card with FMCB installed on it along with a host of other programs. I've formatted my 160GB HDD with WinHiip and attached it to my version 50001 PS2 via the network adapter, and HDLoader is able to see the hard drive. HDL Dumb server has been transferred to a USB thumbdrive, and booted through uLaunchElf. I am unable to connect my PC and PS2 through HDL Dumb with the goal of transferring games over FTP.
The first time I booted HDL Dumb off my thumbdrive it listed a IP address, version, and a statement of being ready. My router was on DHCP and the 2Wire (AT&T supplied) router was being cranky (After an hour of fiddling it hated static ips), so I got a LinkSys hub to setup the PS2 and PC with static IP addresses. Both on a subnet of 255.255.255.0, and IP addresses of 192.168.0.1 for PC, and 192.168.0.2 for PS2. Through uLaunchElf's Network settings tab, I changed the IP address of the PS2. Ever since that edit, whenever I run HDL Dumb Server no IP address is displayed, simply:
"hdld_svr-0.8.3
********
Ready"
The Linksys hub lights up for both the PC and PS2 ports, showing the network adapters are connectible. Every time I type in the PS2's IP address and try to attach, I get a timeout error.
Pinging 192.168.0.2 gets 100% packet loss. Quite simply, my HDL Dumb server does not set up a server when run ever since I set a static IP in uLaunchElf, does anyone know why this happens or how to fix it?
I've read about the alternative ExecFTP being run on a PS2 as well, but is for generic files and not transferring HDLoader compliant games. Are there any other FTP servers I can run on a PS2 that will work?

you need to upgrade to hdl dump/hdl dumb 0.8.6 and hdld_svr.elf version 0.8.5. then you need to use uLaunchELF's configuration to properly configure your IPCONFIG.DAT
if that doesn't work, you may need to open a port in your firewall.

Boy do I feel dumb, ran version 0.8.5 of hdld server, and now everything is working. Suprising that such a minor version change produced such a massive difference. Problem solved, thanks.
