MY HDD won't spin up and there's a burning smell when its plugged in. Is it a goner?
From what you have said so far... . it's gone.
If you remove the HDD and turn your PS2 on is the burning smell still there?
Recomendation: Log into the manufacturers website and check your warranty, and how to claim if there is one. =/
No the smell is not coming from the PS2.....warranty 6 months past....guess its a good excuse to get a bigger HD.
I'm having the same issue. I have 2 drives and neither powers up with the network adapter. If I power it up through my computer it works fine (the PS2 runs and HDLoader finds it). I've tried 2 network adapters so far and no dice.
Mine is completely dead, doesn't work with adaptor either. It's about a year and a half old. Maxtor 120GB. I've been using a IDE to USB adapter with WINHIIP. Anybody got ideas on what causes this to happen? Should I start using HDL Dumb? How does the transfer speed compare?
Make sure your hard drive's set to Master not slave :P
hdds spin up regardless of jumper settings
