well this is my 1st post so don't make fun to bad....got a hdd with final fantasy XI, got the ps2 modded and it came with the network adapter..well put the hdd in and now the ps2 plays movies, but not ps2 games, orginals or backups...i don't know if the network adapter is config or not, was wondering if the adapter needs to be config for the hdd to work...when you put a game in it just goes to the red screen, asking for orignal ps2 game or format utility disk...thanks swaging_152

Try reformatting the HDD with the Utility Disc, after that don't cut the power from the back of the system, to power down always hold the power button in for a few seconds and always make sure that you only power down when the yellow HDD activity light isn't flashing.

Don't worry about the light, just make sure that the HDD isn't thrashing when you power down (always by holding the power button for a few seconds, never from the back switch!)

well here's an update on my problem, it has a magic pro chip installed on it..i've played movies and ps1 games on the system fine. will not play ps2 orignals or backups..i've taken the hdd out and put it back in and reformatted and reinstalled the system files off the utility disk..and still the same, when i put a ps2 game in it goes to the red screen..i've ran the utility disk for errors and it says it has none..also when i put the utility disk back in after i have quit it the 1st time, it doesn't play it either..i don't know what's going on, this is the first harddrive i have tried to install on a ps2 so i'm really lost...thanks ahead of time for any help swaging_152

(will not play ps2 orignals or backups)... When it goes to red screen that is a DISC problem. You should recheck your modification if not done already, that really sounds like a modification problem, recheck your points.
It has nothing to do with your harddrive so stop formating etc. or does this problem only happen when the hard drive is installed?

I didn't know there's an option on the Utility Disc to reformat the HDD. If that's the case, if I use the original Sony HDD for HDLoader, that means I can reformat the HDD later and play Final Fantasy again? I've been waiting to try the MCLoader, but I'm afraid the Sony HDD will become useless. Thank you in advance for your confirmation, thanks!!!
