    Hi

i have a 200GB hdd and i dont want to sacrifice it all to hda/hdl
my idea is to have 2 or more partitions, 1 for hda/hdl and 1 for videos, music , store and stuff for the smsplayer

    is this possible?

Not only is it possible, but a multi-partition scheme is mandatory with HDL/HDA.

Each installed game is stored not as a file in a common partition, but as a separate partition in itself. Apart from such partitions, one for each game, several others will also be created when you format the disk with HDL/HDA (or other PS2 tools), and you can create new ones as you please, using such tools as uLaunchELF (AKA: uLE) etc, which are also able to remove such partitions again, if you want to make room for more HDL games.

Most non-game partitions can be used to store whatever files you please, though you should avoid doing it in the "HDLoader Settings" partition. And some applications will create partitions for their own use that do not work for normal file access (eg: CodeBreaker), but some tools like uLE are aware of this and won't even show some of those partitions in the normal filebrowser (though they can be found in the HddManager of uLE).

    Best regards: dlanor
