HDD gerneral question –
What's up all? I'm new to the PS 2 forums
I know this has probably been asked a million times, but what is it going to take to make a regular IDE hard drive work within a PS 2?
I can provide any info needed technically on Apple computers, but looking where to start with my PS2. I'm an avid SOCOM II player, and I have a BUNCH of hard drives just chillin.
I do have the disc that comes with the Final Fantasy and hard drive setup, can I use that to format a drive and set it up?
I'm going to... probably tonight. Just didn't know if there was anything I needed to know going into it.
Hard Drive, Network Adaptor and HDLoader or HDAdvance is what you need to play games off of a hard drive. This info is widely available, it has been asked numerous times. In the future use the search function, its there for a reason.
Thanks Mod... but I'm not concerned about playing games off my hard drive. I'm just curious if a drive can be used as normal without it being a "sony" drive with the bizarro sled or anything. I just need it for use with SOCOM II and the additional maps..
Thanks for fully reading..
You would still need a modchip to do the patching so the programs/games think its the official sony drive. Any maxtor drive will fit the network adaptor.
effbee... I just put in a Quantum 60gb, and the HDD disc utility 1.10 and it says that the drive is not installed.
Am I correct in thinking that the drive sled that comes closes a circuit to show that there is a drive installed? It looks like there is a pin for this in the top of the drive bay right inside the PS2 itself.
Any thoughts. What mod chip do I need to make regular drives work?
Also... I'm using a Mac Running O.S. 10.3.7. Are there any utilities that I can get online to burn to disc and hack the PS2? Again... all I'm looking for is a way get it to see the dag gone drive without a sled.
There is no way to use a non-sony HDD for the new SOCOM II maps (to play online with them) LAN maybe... but that'd be it...
Why is that? How does it check? Can I get the damn sony drive without going the Sony route?
