I have the Sony HDD Utility v1.1. How do you install the HDD browser? It only has options to manage the partitions and format them. It doesn't have an option to install any type of software.

Does your chip support Auto-ATAD patching?
I don't think the Sony HDD Utility will work with an unofficial hdd if you don't have a modchip.
What happens if you select format?
The hdd browser only use is to show the hdd as a memcard, i guess you're not using hdl/hda cause the format option will erase anthing on the hdd...
Read my signature...it says I have a Matrix Infinity. My HDD is formated with HDLoader. If I select format it prompts me to confirm. I haven't went past it. I need to backup the stuff on my HDD first.
I don't have a modchip, so i don't know the capabilities of the various chip out there...
Have you went to the modchip menu, and turned ON the option of ATAD AUTO PATCHING?
PS: Only go to the modchip menu if you are 100% the modchip is original. some matrix infinity modchip clones simply die / stop working if you go to the menu.
Yes, I have an original one. When I enable auto atad patching, the HDD utility will not boot. If I turn it off, the utility boots and lists all the partitions on the drive.
Weird. It should boot the disc normally with the auto atad patching enable.
There's a known bug with the ATAD implementation in the 1.75 firmware, that affect games, and probably is affecting the HDD Utility Disc.
Try downgrading the modchip firmware to 1.68, go to the menu, enable auto atad patching , and try the hdd utility disc again.
I'll revert back to v1.68 and see what happens. Yesterday I tried to format the drive and it gave an error saying "Invalid parameter" or something. I also have the FFXI HDD disc and tried to install the software from there, but it would fail at 20%, saying the HDD must have been removed. I tried to format it and it said the same thing at the 20% mark. I have bought an 80GB HDD...I will be receiving it Monday. I'll see what happens with that.
