well i relabeled some of the first few games i put in the hdd with winhiip, relabeled throught hda that is. it just locked up saying relabeling. so i had to reboot. i let it sit there for ~20mins trying to relabeling.

so i took it out and put it in my computer again. opened up winhiip since i figured i put these first few games on with it. said bad.partn again. so i removed the partition. after it refreshed it instantly told me i had a orphan partition and i choose yes to recover it. all looks well through winhiip now, but when i put the hdd back in the ps2....it just stays at the loading screen. i can hear it scanning/indexing the disk or something...but it just sits there forever. Even my ps2os partition is corrupted now, that never happened on my old drive using hdl_dump/hda only.

im my opinion winhiip is not a wise option to use. i dont know if winhiip is better than the actual hda/hdl application at handling the partitions, or if its the other way around. Does not matter too much which is better, because as soon as you throw winhiip into the mix of aplications to use things go wrong.

some people say just use winhiip only to do the work, that is ridiculous. some say don't use winhiip and hdl_dump, that is aswell. source of the problem is winhiip. however, this time, im left with a hdd that will not boot.

ive learned my leason, stay away from winhiip if you plan on using hda and hdl_dump...or actually any application at all like ps2OS. stay away

    can you tell im bitter

i'm the other way around. i steer clear of hdl_dum(p/b), i'm winhiip only.. hdl_dump screwed up my drive. it would boot with hdloader, but hdl_dump wouldnt recognize it as a valid drive.. so i took it to winhiip, it repaired the hdloader partition (yes, i tried removing it and restoring it prior) and recovered the game partitions (orphaned)..

i've been using winhiip since, everything has been fine.

well booting with hdloader is fine...rather have it do that than not boot hdloader at all. i mean atleast that way you can still play the games you got on there like intended. what i got now is just a filled hdd with games i can't even play...worthless data.

if anyone else has any tips on this pls post them.

im afraid i have to start all over....take a LOOONG time

I have only ever used WINHIIP and have never had a problem.

You said that the problem was caused when you tried to relabel your games with HDA which makes me think that when you reset the ps2 it caused the partition errors and to be honest if HDA isnt even booting now its not WINHIIP thats doing it,sounds more like a problem with HDA because even if the HDD is stuffed HDA should still load to the point where it tells you the drive needs formatting.

What is your HDA,exploit cracked cd or original cd?

Also you said about using hdl_dump/b,possibly this caused the problem as I know someone who used WINHIIP for ages without a problem then used hdl_dump and had to format his hdd and start from scratch.
