HD partitioning woes

Whenever I put my ps2 HD in my PC, and start WinHIIP 1.6, it gives me the error "There are unrecoverable partition errors (Partition Collision)". I start hdl_dump/b .5, and it doesn't even see anything on the drive!
is there I can do to remedy this?
(HDLoader installs games without a problem though)

I think the only way to fix this error is to format drive & start again.
The only stable program I've used is hdl_dump (not hdl_dumb). Try using hdl_dump across network.
