I was wondering if any has made or knows of a patch for Hd loader . Wich would
allow installing a ps2 game from a usb stick to a ide hdd . I realize usb 1 is slow , but for people with dead lasers and such . Plus not having to remove the ps2 hdd or configure a network connection to upload games . Wich seems to be frustrating to many . I think there would be many uses to such a feature.

you do realize that there is usb advance? Note that the compatibility with games sucks horribly compared to HDL.

Yes , but you can only play from usb stick or usb hdd with hd advance . I was wondering if would be possible to install from a usb stick or usb hdd . To my ide hdd .Instead of from the cdvd to ide hdd . Usb 1 is slow to play from , but I would not mind installing from it to my ide hdd.

No that is wrong. You are confusing HDAdvance (same thing as HDLoader) with the program USBAdvance (same thing as USBExtreme).

I was wondering if would be possible to install from a usb stick or usb hdd . To my ide hdd .
Simple answer: No, that is not possible with any available software.

Instead of from the cdvd to ide hdd . Usb 1 is slow to play from , but I would not mind installing from it to my ide hdd.
I think you're wrong again. You only think you would not mind it because you do not fully realize how long time it would take.

Using network is so much faster and more convenient that it really is no contest.

    Best regards: dlanor

I've got to agree with dlanor on that about Network installing is by far much faster than any USB 1.1 could install (if it was an available method). That is if you meant on the PS2, of course its possible on the PC with Winhiip.

I dont recall the speeds, but heres the order of best to worst for installing PS2 games to a IDE HDD that i have experienced:

1- USB HDD enclosure to IDE HDD [Winhiip on PC] approx. 3-5Mins for a 4GB DVD
    2- IDE HDD to IDE HDD on the PC [Winhiip on PC] approx. 8-10Mins for a 4GB DVD{a bit slower as they must share the same IDE Channel on my PC}
3- IDE HDD (PC) networked to IDE HDD (PS2) [HDLDump using various GUI apps]approx. 15-20Mins for a 4GB DVD
    4-CD/DVD drive (PS2) and HD Loader (PS2) approx. 25-35Mins for a 4GB DVD

Its a matter of convienience vs speed on choosing the best method to install your PS2 games to an IDE HDD.

Personally I dont do a lot of installing, so Winhiip is the perfect choice for me, as i can install a lot of games at a single session when i do, in about the same time it would take to install a single game from the PS2's CD/DVD drive with HD Loader.
    PS2 Consoles:
    SCPH-30001 [V4] - unmodded (2)
    SCPH-30001-R [V5] DMS4 Pro SE
    SCPH-50001-N [V9] CC 2.0 SLE
    SCPH-79001 [V16] Silver - unmodded

O___O I use "hdl_dumb 0.86" and the speed is approximately the same as with Winhiip (ca. 4,5 min. for a full-sized DVD-5 game).
