HD loader Questions –
Im new to this, and I did search, but couldnt find exactly what Im asking
I just got an HD Loader, and I want to be able to send games over my network to my PS2
However My ps2 is unmodded. Through searching (I am a newb that searches), I know that I need to get an server.elf or somekind of file on my MC in order to pull this off.
I have two ways about getting these files on my MC. One way is through a sharkport (x-port) cable, which I dont have. Another would be to burn the software onto a cd-r,and then use Swap-magic to load it into the MC, My problem is that I dont have swap-magic either, and Im really not wanting to get one for one time use.
Where My question comes in, is does the HD loader, Load burned software. Since the PS2 is already booted, when it prompts you to insert game to copy, Could I then insert a CD-r that contains the MC files that I want. Copy that to the HD ... reboot, then execute that disc to pull it off???
If I cant do that, Can I at least copy burned games to the hard-drive and or PS1 games (I want Final Fantasy 7)
Yes you can put the ftp server on a disc and copy that to your HD with HDloader. Try ExecFTPs_standalone0_68, it works great. With that running, you can copy files to your MC. Faplink is the only way right now I guess. Next Winhiip release (great prog too!) should also be able to do the trick. Look at this thread for more info.
I thought HDL-Dump V6.0 (the non-grpahical interface) had network capibilty to transfer games to the HDD.
Either way, Now I know I can boot up CD-R's with HD-loader to do the MC exploit.
yeah as far as I know, HDL_Dump has the capability as well.
theres just too many programs that do the same thing, yet in different ways, right now. Not only that, but the support isnt all that excitable...
i gave up on transfers over the network, its too damn slow. i got about 600k/s. it took about 20 minutes to transfer a cdr game and 2+ hours to transfer a dvdr game. its not really workable speeds here. i got a hard drive enclosure off the net for 50 bucks and use firewire connection to transfer the game to the hard drive. it takes less than a minute for a cdr game and under 3 minutes for a dvdr game. i also tried using usb2 connection and the speeds were about the same. ftp is pretty useless when it takes that long. i know its convenient not to have to take the hard drive out but its just too slow.
