unpacked hDLoader 2.9 MB
packed HDLoader 604 kB
its 'compressed' saves space on ur memory card![]()
You need a program like ps2-packer to compress the .elf file.Originally Posted by jenko

Yea, of course the size is also affected by the skin you apply. The darker the skin, the smaller the file size.
EDIT: Ok, so there is more to it then darkness/lightness, well at least darkness had something to do with it![]()

No. This has little to do with the brightness or darkness of the skin. Like for all data compression it is the complexity that matters. So simple graphics using a monochrome or at least 'few-colour' scheme will be much more efficiently compressed than complex graphics using a multitude of colours.Originally Posted by ps2dragon
The only relationship to brightness/darkness in this is that darkening the picture will effectively reduce the number of discrete colours it contains, thus reducing the overall data complexity.
My own skinned HDL files vary in size after compression from 156KB (Extremely simple two-colour scheme) to 1381KB (Two very nice FFX pictures). The tiny one is what I use on memory cards, while the larger ones are for use on HDD/CD or other media where the size doesn't really matter.
And for performing such packing and unpacking the main tools are the PC programs "ps2-packer" and "ps2-unpacker", so anyone needing more info on this should search for those strings...

kk thanks. will look.
