Please can anyone offer me any advice, i have a 120gb hard drive connected to my matrix infinity modded PS2. i use HDloader on a memory card to boot up the games of the HD which has worked fine since i set the machine up well over a year ago, BUT lately i have needed a disc in the PS2 to run any games of the HD. Can anyone offer me any advice on whats happened. i have reinstalled hdloader , reformatted the HD and everything else i can think off. the PS2 still boots up "backup" games using the laser read method with no problems. i would be really grateful of any other help

you still have some options to experiment around a little.
you could try to boot hdl with maybe ulaunchelf, to see if it has something to do with the way
you boot it, or you could try another version of hdl.
try the repair function in winhiip, try another hdd.

if this all doesn't work out, you probably might have a hardware problem
(maybe a loose cable on the chip or some dirty contacts on your network adapter).

what version do you use right now?

actually i think it's not a problem of hdl, but if you don't try you never will know.
you really should try to start hdl with another method, use the original one
for this experiment, so you will be sure, that's not a matter from hdl.

if this wont work, use another hdd (any will do, which is known to be compatible),
sure you can find a list of those in this forum (just lend some old hdd from a friend
    if you don't have one).

sounds like your hld was patched with the /s flag if it is patched with the /s flag then you will need a disc in the ps2 to run games

repatch hdl without the /s flag and the games should run with no disc in the ps2
