GT4 PAL 50 Hz > 60 Hz with HDL
GT4 PAL 50 Hz > 60 Hz with HDL –

Well I dumped my GT4 to make an ISO, and was wondering if it was possible to run the game @ 60 Hz with HDLoader.
HDL itself ran in 60 Hz, but as soon as I started GT4 it would switch back to 50 Hz.
So I was wondering if there is a way that HDL will force PAL 50 Hz games into 60 Hz, without patching the game..., Zer0-X??

I would assume GT4 would have the option to change to 60Hz most if not all new PAL games offer this choice. Your only other option, I think, would be to patch it to NTSC.

Nope it doesn't have an option for 60 Hz. And I think that the patch for this game to NTSC isn't working, since it is a DVD-9 game.
But I thought there might be a way HDL forces all games into 60 Hz. So patching wouldn't be necessary.

First of all, I don't see the point of doing this. As usual with patching a game to use 60 Hz, it'd use NTSC for display and color mode. PAL is far superior to NTSC in both display and color (brightness/contrast) quality. Given that Gran Turismo 4 has an excellent PAL adaptation (it runs equally fast/smooth to the original version with PAL 50 Hz), I don't see the point in patching this specific game.
If your TV supports PAL, I'd definitely prefer PAL over NTSC for well-adapted games (most modern games are).
The Metal Gear Solid series is another fine example of an excellent NTSC-PAL conversion.

Hmm, I didn't know that....
But the bottom line is it is at 50 Hz (saw it on my monitor), which means slower then NTSC version.
Anyway I had nightmares with FFX, and really want at least 60 Hz before I seriously start this game. And I saw the difference between 60 and 50 Hz obvious, the game was running MUCH faster. But this method (with Crystal Chip) requires the normal method running the DVD, i want HDL

HDL cannot change the video mode of any game.
DrGast, I agree with you there that PAL is much better than NTSC the colours are much clearer and brighter etc but what I dont get is why to game developers include the option for 60Hz in most new PAL games?? If PAL is alot better why do they provide this option and in 99% of games promote the 60Hz mode by saying something like "Test for 60Hz mode?"
Why why why? ^_^

60 Hz has nothing to do with NTSC-mode, it is just the refresh rate. So with the 60 Hz option you all have the better colours and clearer image, so it would be MUCH better than NTSC.
And what you are saying about it is impossible to let HDL change it, i don't get it... Can't you just add to the compatibility flags another option to auto-patch it to 60 Hz?

just to remind you folks, GT4 DOES have an option to set 50Hz and 60Hz (in settings>display) on PAL version, and if you use a mem card for saves, it autoloads this option when u boot the game from hdloader

all the things about pal being superior to ntsc are true, but ONLY for composite signal.
If you are a little serious about your consoles, you have to hook them with a RGB cable (via scart for europe tv sets), or component (more common in NA). once with RGB, the only 2 differences are refresh rate and resolution. And since 99% of game are made either in japan or usa (both are 60hz countries), Few games are properly redone for pal 50 hz (resolution and speed), so in games with selectors, 50hz mode is often nothing more than a fall back (complete with solwer speed and black bars at top and bottom)...
Each game with a selector is welcome, if not I rather be playing a NTSC version of the game.
(side note, metroid prime 2 PAL for the GC is 60hz only)
