FullMetal Alchemist: Dream Carnival
FullMetal Alchemist: Dream Carnival –

I tried installing Full Metal Alchemist: Dream Carnival w/ both winHIIP and HD Handiness. Both times the game boots up, shows the intro movie and then blanks out. I've tried all the modes already. Has anyone successfully gotten pass the intro screen?
I think the game is trying to access the cd/dvd drive when the screen goes blank, cuz I hear the cd/dvd drive spinning up. All the HDD loading programs basically intercept calls to the cd/dvd drive and redirects them to the HDD, right? I think it somehow didn't intercept this call.
But I was think, what if I were to put in a burned copy of the game into the cd/dvd drive when playing this game? All the HDD loading programs don't need the cd in drive after the program's been booted and the PS2 only checks whether the game is original or burned when it's booting the game, right? The game can boot off the HDD just fine but can't get past the intro screen cuz it's looking in the cd/dvd drive for data instead of the HDD. So if a burned copy is in the drive when it calls for data, would it read it off the dvd and continue to run? Unfortunately I don't have a DVD burner, so I can't test it. But has anyone tried anything similar to this on non-working games? or could someone try this if they have this game on their HDD? Thx

I'm new to the whole HDD thing, and I have seen this before on the working lists and what not. But what does the mode mean? And how would you change the mode?

hmm.... just tried again w/ WinHIIP 1.6.2. Still the same probelm. I installed it straight from the ISO this time. Last time, the ISO was mounted on the virtual dvd drive. I'm booting HDloader from the memory card. I'll try it with the HDloader cd once I can get my hands on it.
The FMA on the working list I think is FMA: Broken Angel, the RPG. I have that too and that works fine. I also have the Naruto fighting game which was made by the same company as the FMA fighter and that also works. I dunno this just doesn't work. I ran a CRC check and the rars seemed to be fine. grrrr.
The modes are just compatability modes. U just select the game, press select, choose the modes to turn on, press select again, and load the game. Games like FFX-2 need modes to be turned on for it to work.

maybe there's something wrong with your iso. Because i installed mine copy (iso, Winhiip) and it ran fine without turning on any of the modes.

I ran the files thru bittorrent and I ran the .sfv file that came with the torrent. I even loaded a different torrent w/ the same files. They all checked out. It's weird that it shows the intro movie and then stops working.
Do you guys load HDloader from cd or Memory card? I've had previous trouble w/ the memory card version. I'll try the cd version when I get it back.
There are two games for PS2, an RPG and a fighter game. well.... 3 if u count the new upcoming sequel RPG by Square-Enix. There's also some other FMA games for GBA too.

I also had no problem getting this game to run, I used WinHIIP to install to the HDD then popped it in and it ran no probs at all... was a V4 PS2.
