If it fried by installing 9 games in row, chances are it would have fried from hours of gameplay in a row too...

Have you confirmed its fried by trying it in a PC and FDISK'ing then formatting (to rule out corruption etc) ? Or were there really obvious symptoms ?

I have a maxtor 120 hdd, and did the same thing and installed like 15 games back to back. I did notice the over hearting, so i turned on my fan in my room (i should have taken it into an air conditioned room). i noticed that making it to the last couple of backups, i was getting error messages.

So not only should you be backing your games up in a nice kool room, stonecoldlee is right, dont go crazy backing up games. take it easy so that u dont go messing up ur setup.
