freezing at toxic os screen???

when i have my hdd and network adapter in it freezes at the toxic os screen... think i could have corrupted the drive or it was corrupt to begin with since this is the same drive i had the multiple formatting problem? would it be advised to just format from my pc?(like throw it in my pc instead and use windows to format up 128gb partition? sorry for my noobness.

i have figure'd out that i somehow messed up my drive with my ps2. i put it in my pc it only shows 128gb (i assume bc it put the rest of the 160gb hd into another directory in ps2 format) but my ps2 freezes at the os load screen with the hd in it, is tehre anyway to recover my hd and make it look new again to give it another go? or should i just be happy with the 128gb i have that it still works and it's not fried lol. thanks to everyone for being so helpful

Use wiinhiip to access the hard drive while connected to your pc.
If there are any errprs with the hd winhiip will find them and in most cases repair them.
