i am using hdloader and Dv8's exploit tutorial. i made the execftps image according to his descriptions and put in on my hdd. but for some reason when i get on flashfxp it says "WinSock 2.0 -- OpenSSL 0.9.7d 17 Mar 2004
    [R] Connecting to 192.168.1.101 -> IP=192.168.1.101 PORT=21
    [R] Connected to 192.168.1.101
    [R] Connection failed (Connection lost)"
i have flashfxp 3.0.2 i have tried all settings with the passive mode on/off, i am not sure if this is the PASV he is talking about. if someone could help me that would be great. oh yea and i have searched.

I keep getting a "The server does not understand a simple command (LIST)" error on certain card slots, also with the KL.Dat file in the mc/3/BADATA-SYSTEM folder (along with the rest of the exploit files) I am getting "unable to load the configuration file"

Since when does a PS2 have 4 memory cards ?
"/mc/0/" is the first, and "/mc/1/" is the second.

All the ones whith higher numbers are simply bogus mirrors...
All even ones match mc0:, while the odd ones match mc1:.
But the fact that they 'match' when inspecting contents is no guarantee that they can be used with correct results. They aren't intended to be used at all.

Also, concerning FTP client choice, I've never had any problem with FlashFXP v3.0, and I know that other versions of it work fine too. (Maybe not the VERY old ones.)

    Best regards: dlanor

well....I won't claim that I know what I'm talking about but...
    I open the mc directory on FlashFXP 3.0.2 it gives me 0 through 15 (i.e. mc/0, mc/1, mc/2 ... and so on)
concering the FTP choice, Bullet Proof FTP gives me the same results.
could it be that the memory card in slot 1 was not an official sony card?

    However, if you say
All the ones whith higher numbers are simply bogus mirrors
perhaps I can load the expliot files to mc/1...

That's the 'mirror' effect I mentioned earlier. Just ignore numbers 2-15, as they are not real cards.

Well, that depends on exactly WHAT it was then...

I have used both an 8MB card from MadCatz, and a new 32MB card from Datel with no problem at all, because those cards have 'MagicGate' support, which is required for compatibility with Sony cards.

Some older non-Sony cards (eg: older Datel 32MB types) require a boot disc to work with PS2, and those cards will probably not work with ExecFTPs.

perhaps I can load the expliot files to mc/1...
Yes, "mc/0" and "mc/1" should both work, unless there is some problem with your settings for the FTP client that causes it to fail.

Problem solved.... and may I say "DUH" the false mirrors were caused by the non sony card, as they dont exist without it in. Also the FTP problem...it is difficult to upload files to a mc that is already at its capacity...DUH.
Now I am running ps2menuk,ToxicOS and all sorts of cool stuff.

Are you sure ? I think you're mistaken about that. If I use two cards in the PS2, then the mirrors are always seen, even if both cards are Sony originals. The only way for me to make the mirrors 'go away' is to have only one card connected.

    Indeed...

Good. I'm glad you got things workin in the end.

Well...I Can't say for sure that the mirrors are always there with two cards, But it is likely as the secondary card is a MadCatz card licensed by Sony (it has the ps2 logo on it and the magicgate trademark) If I really felt like checking I would

Good. I'm glad you got things workin in the end.

For the most part they did, except I get no use from a majority of the utils because I have no Modchip. Well...I have one, but cant put it in and since it isnt *** 4 pro it wouldnt matter anyway...

As far as I know very few tools are dependent on that mod-chip. In fact I can only think of two, these being the Toxic firmware and the HDD Explorer.

Most other stuff works fine without any mod-chip at all, except when you need to access data on discs (emu ROMs, media files, etc), and for some cases (but not all) that can be done with HDL/USBadv.
