Firewire instead of USB?
Firewire instead of USB? –

Ps2s have a 4-pin mini firewire 400 port on them, but i've never heard of anyone using it for anything. Is it possible to use a firewire hdd enclosure to boot games instead of USB? The firewire should be tons faster than usb, so im hoping its possible...
I'd try it myself, but i dont have a modded memory card quite yet.

Physically it would be possible to use that interface for external HDD, provided it had its own power supply and suitable firewire interface. But the real problem lies elsewhere.
There are no device drivers available for using external storage devices connected by firewire, and consequently there is no game loader available using such drivers.
At present the only chance of such development that I can see is that jimmikaelkael or someone else with similar skills (very rare) might develop a new game loader core for "Open PS2 Loader" using the firewire interface. But this is unlikely as only a limited series of old PS2 models had that interface.
