Ok people, i am trying to put the MC exploit on my memory card without a modchip, without any swap. Just HDLoader. I have read many tutorials and still, the stuff wont work. I have broken my PC monitor in anger because i dont know wtf to do. i used the f'n search button over 300 F**KIN' times! Can someone, for the love of God, please walk me through this. thanks.

umm don't you need to burn a copy of the HDLoader elf and also the boot elf and such and use a PSX game to trigger the exploit (If you have a version less than 9, otherwise you can use the no disc exploit). If you don't have a modchip, nor don't use the swap method, how may I ask are you trying to get your ps2 to read the exploit disc? Sorry if I misunderstood your initial post, kind of studying and doing this at the same time.

Also what Version PS2 do you have?
What process have you gone through in order to make an exploit disc?
Are you connecting to your PS2 via networking?

When I started out I used this method.
credit goes to Lewis57703 at psx forum

    Things you need
    -PS2
    -PS2 network adapter
-PS2 HDD or compatable HDD for the PS2
    -PS2 memory card
    -HDloader (retail)

Before we start heres a list of things you will need.
-HDloader dump gui (WinHIIP, HDL_DUMB, HD Handiness etc..)
    -CDGENPS2
    -CDMAGE
-Winiso (or a program like it just to conver .bin to .iso)
    -execftps
    -FTP program (i used FLASHFXP)
-memory exploit from the "PS2 independence" page
    -PSX game

Ok now you got all the stuff needed lets get started

1)First thing we'll need to do is find your PS2 IP. Its best to have a router and have your ps2 connected to the router to find it. Start up your PS2 and load up anything that requires your PS2 to connect to the net. (while the ps2 is running) go to your pc and enter 192.168.0.1 in your webbrowser. (i'm using a D-Link router so might differ depending on the router you have.) Go to Status->Log, here you should find the ip for your ps2 under "Message" (mine showed up as DHCP lease IP 192.168.0.101 to (blank, didn't give my ps2 a name)). (REMEMBER your router might asign a differen't ip than mine did so don't just copy mine and hope it works!)

    2) Now open your folder where you put execftps. Right click CONFIG.DAT and chose "open with" and chose notepad/wordpad or something like that. Now the file reads like this

    192.168.0.10 255.255.255.0 192.168.0.1

    192.168.0.10 PS2 IP
    255.255.255.0 is subnetmask
    192.168.0.1 is Router IP

Now change file to fit the IP's you have in your router and save it. (mine looked like this once done 192.168.0.101 255.255.255.0 192.168.0.1)

    2) Now open CDGENPS2. Drag in SYSTEM.CNF (from your execftps folder). Now right click SYSTEM.CNF and chose edit and check (or uncheck) "Fix LBA" and put in 12231 and click ok. Now drag execftps.elf and config.dat into CDGENPS2. Now click IMG on the side and it will make it into a .bin file (I named mine EXECTPS.BIN, and this should all be 1 image containing all the files).

    3) Now we need to repair the EXECTPS.BIN. Open CDMAGE and load up your EXECTPS.BIN file and goto Actions->Scan for Crouption. If theres any crouption fix it (mine didn't have any crouption but some will, guess it depends on your CDGENPS2 version).

    4) Now open up winiso and convert the EXECTPS.BIN file to a EXECTPS.ISO file.

    5) Ok now turn off you PS2 and PC and hook up your PS2 HDD to your PC (more than enough guides are out there to show you how to do that so i won't)

    6) Ok now that you PC is back up and running load up a HDloader dump gui (WinHIIP, HDL_DUMB, HD Handiness etc..) and format the hdd (if your hdd is already formatted you don't have to do this). Now transfer the EXECTPS.ISO file we made to the PS2 hdd (name it EXECTPS for easy use in this guide).

    7) Now turn off your PC and move the PS2 HDD back to the PS2 (you should know how to do this).

8 ) Now boot up the EXECTPS.ISO we sent with HDloader to make sure it works (should show up as EXECTPS in the list). If it works turn off the PS2, if not go back and make sure you did everything correct.

    9) Now with the memory exploit from the "PS2 independence" that you downloaded unzip it to "C:\MC" for right now to save us some work. Once thats done put your PSX game into your cd/dvd drive. Make a new text document and go to file->open. Now browse to your cd/dvd drive and under "Files of Type" chose "All Files". You should now see a file called "SYSTEM", open it. It will read

    BOOT2 = cdrom0:\SLUS_202.70;1
    VER = 1.00
    VMODE = NTSC

We only care about whats after the \ and before the ; (so for this its "SLUS_202.70" but depending on which PSX game you have it will differ) and remember this!

    10) Now we have to do some DOS stuff. Now click Start->Run and type in "cmd", this will bring up dos. Now type "cd\" this will change the directory to C:\. Next type "cd MC" (this is where you should have unzipped the memory exploit). Now type "Titleman -a SLUS-202.70" but replace the SLUS_202.70 with the one you got off your PSX game!!!!!

    11) Now turn back on your ps2 and the EXECTPS.ISO we sent to it with HDloader again (should still be called EXECTPS in the list).

    12) Once execftps is running on the ps2 start up your FTP program and connect to your ps2 ip. Once you connect browse to /mc/0/BEDATA-SYSTEM for pal (/mc/0/BADATA-SYSTEM for NTSC) and copy your TITLES.DB to it. Now make a copy of your EXECFTPS.ELF and rename it to BOOT.ELF and put it in /mc/0/BEDATA-SYSTEM dir (/mc/0/BADATA-SYSTEM for NTSC) and also place your CONFIG.DAT in there. (DON'T try to connect to the HDD it won't work!)

    12) Now restart your ps2 with your PSX game in the drive that you used for the memory exploit.

    13) Power on your PS2 and now you have FTP support with MC and HDD access now!!!!!!

NOW THIS IS EXTRA STUFF YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO UNLESS YOU WANT!!!!

Now lets add ps2mnu-k so it looks better and we can do more stuff.

    1) Now before we get to far open up your FTP program and connect to your PS2 make a folder called "EXECFTPS" in MC/0/ and copy EXECFTPS.ELF and CONFIG.DAT into this directory. This way we can connect via FTP later.

    2) Now Download PS2MNU-K from the web (i'm sure you can find it) and unzip it anywhere.

    3) Now rename PS2MNU-K.ELF to BOOT.ELF and copy BOOT.ELF, ps2ip.irx, ps2netfs.irx, ps2smap.irx to your /mc/0/BEDATA-SYSTEM or /mc/0/BADATA-SYSTEM depending if your NTSC or PAL.

    4) Now restart start your PS2 with your PSX disk in and now you have PS2MNU-K.

    5) Now launch EXECFTPS from the PS2MNU-K (EXECFTPS.ELF is the file you'll need to launch to get EXECFTPS to run).

    6) Go to hdd/0/ and enter the command "SITE MNT /pfs/0/ hdd:PS2MENU-K MC Backup". Now The pration is avabile in /pfs/0/ Now you can install things to the HDD instead of the memory card like ps2reality, ps2link, etc.

I copied this off a forum so if anyone knows who wrote it pm me so I can give credit. credit for this tutorial goes to Lewis57703 at psx forum. Thank you davbere for telling me where I got this.

This worked for me first time; if you want to skip some steps you could just make ps2mnu-k your boot.elf in the first place and add execftp and config.dat to your memory card all in the same step. Then you can ftp all the elfs you want to your hdd or memcard. For me it works better to copy to memcard then use ps2mnu-k to copy it to hard drive. You can also, with some basic hexediting skills add umcdr support to ps2mnu-k and just burn elfs to umcdr and copy them to your hard drive.

That is the tutorial i am following. I have so swap shit, no mod shit, nothing but HDLoader. SOMEONE HELP ME! PLEASE!

I'm assuming you meant to say that you don't have swap magic or anything of that sort. Do you have the retail version of HDLoader? Have you patched the HDLoader elf? How far did you get into the procedure when you found it didn't work? Sorry if I'm asking a lot of questions, but I'm just trying to see what might be the problem.

Hmm I've fooled around with the MC Exploit while my HDD is on it's way and before my PS2 was sent to be fixed. However I used the CDR method of MC Exploit (Didn't want to set up a network). I'll try and help you though with what I've read through (Went through a sh_tload of tutorials and such) I'll try to be of some use. Anyway, you do have your IP for the PS2 and such right? Passive mode is off? I came across this awhile back (Had to pull up the thread with it in it.). Try to check that. Also I'm assuming that you did go through the entire tutorial (Format HDD/etc). I'm currently reading the procedure you listed. Sorry for the late response, but I'm going through past threads to see if anything came up like this. Also doing a lab and studying for a midterm that's for tomorrow. Hope I can be of some help!

I don't think your ps2 is the problem, most likely the network setup or something of the sort. What step are you stuck on or doesn't work? (From the tutorial above). Also do you mean boot.cfg file or the whole boot configuration? I don't recall there being a boot.cfg, only a boot.elf.

Is There any other way to transfer the Exploit files to MC without a Swap or a Mod-Chip. Thinking of Xport or Sharkport to transfer the files, is it possible?
