It's actually more convenient for me to hook up the PS2 directly via crossover since it's usually not anywhere near my router. I could set it up fairly easy, I guess, but I still think using the direct connection/crossover method is the way to go for newbies. They just have to make sure their firewall is disabled (or configured to allow access to the FTP port or client software) and connect to the default IP 192.168.0.10 (not 192.168.10.0 as I mistakenly stated, sorry) with their FTP client. Btw, the default IP is the same for both ExecFTPs AND the HDL_Dump Server if I remember correctly.
Using a router is probably the BEST idea! As long as the router is setup correctly. For my setup I have my ps2 connected to my router and my pc is on wireless and I have NO PROBLEMS AT ALL!! It all depends on how things are setup for the individual network. If you had trouble connecting using your router and resorted to a crossover to get it working give me a PM and I should be able to help you out. (I'm not saying you did have trouble or you don't know what your doing so plz don't be offended :-pray: )
