Execftp + Flashfxp
hi guys im sorta new at this so please tell me what the problem im having is. i used execftp to make ps2 into network and use flashfxp to connect. everything loads fine and i see the /mc/0 folder with all the files but for some reason i cant access BADATA-SYSTEM which is the folder with all the ELF files in there. ive tried a few methods but im open for almost anything :D

Do you mean that you see the /BADATA-SYSTEM/ folder, but can't open it ?
Or can you seemingly open it, but see no contents inside it ?
Or do you mean that you can't even see /BADATA-SYSTEM/ at all ?
Also, have you stuffed a lot of things into the /BADATA-SYSTEM/ folder with
other tools or installer disks ? ExecFTPs has a 'blind spot' for MC directories with
exactly 20 or 21 objects in them. This is a known bug inherited from an older
program, and the ExecFTPs author is working to find a fix for it.

thx for reply dlanor. i can SEE the BADATA-SYSTEM folder but when i open it the log says list error. im guessing its either i hae outdated version of execftp or im not doing something right. no files appear but all the other folders work fine...
-
I see. Current version of ExecFTPs is 0.68, so make sure you have that.
Also, are you sure that the BADATA-SYSTEM contains files with legal names ?
Some MC installers will create faulty filenames, because they use the wrong path
separator (Backslash == '\' as in windows) rather than the correct one
(normal slash == '/' as in unix). Instead of creating proper subfolders and files
they will then create files with illegal filenames.
Usually such names will still be listable, but in some cases they might not be...

could i simply just copy the elf files to mc/0 main directory then go to ps2os or ps2menu and copy it over to BADATA-SYSTEM? this really is frustrating
-
make sure passive mode is OFF. I'm using FlashFXP 3.0 btw.
-
make sure you are running the .elf file of exectftp off the memory card and not any other device.

bladezero:
Yes, such copying should work IF ps2os and/or ps2menu will work with that folder.
(We can't be sure of that until you've tried it.) If it works, try to check the validity
of any contents already in that folder, and clean out anything looking suspicious.
(Such as any files with backslashes in the filename, for example.)
Also make sure not to leave any of the files in the root, as they would be considered
corrupt data blocks.

ok i got it to work thx guys :) . i just copied the files to the mem card through execftp then used ps2menu to copy the files over to BADATA-SYSTEM and delete the original files from the root. works perfect.
