Install DVD9 Games on HDLoader
Install DVD9 Games on HDLoader –
I've got Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance and Champions of Norrath working of the HDD. I've done the recompile the DVD9 Dual Layer into one big Single Layer DVD. So now both layers can be read by HDLoader. MGS2 works without having to enable any modes at all. While Norrath needs Mode 3 to function properly. The only thing I haven't had a chance to test with Norrath is the level that it is supposed to freeze on (No idea what level as I still haven't played Norrath that much). So perhaps someone has a save around that they can test.
Use Gnie's DVD IML2ISO. And place these in the same directory where you backed up you orignal. After extracting both layers from the ISO using Apache of course.
Note on MGS2: Substance, Skateboarding doesn't work at all. I think it has to do with the drivers it tries to load conflicting with HDLoader.

How did you create the iml/ims file for champions of norrath? im going to try with the pal version by myself and im stuck there.
yeah can someone Please explain the Dvd 9 thing with the hdloader i can't get an answer on it... will all dvd 9s now work and what do you have to do ?
rav: the HDLOADER does not support installing of dvd9 games...
so people have been using this new util calle HDL_DUMP (i believe). it allows you to install an .ISO image onto your ps2 HD via your PC IDE HDD hookup.
then use this utility to install the dvd9 image onto your PS2 HD.
then you will be able to use the HDLOADER to now load the game.
naa, i wont work with champions of norrath foundmy. it seems so, but after some time it freezes when the game switches from layer0 to layer1. U have to flatten it to one layer but then u have to create new iml/ims files for it. The problem is that the prog i use for iml/ims creation (cd/dvdgen) wont create the files i need, cause the new layer would be oversized.
I used Sony CD/DVD Generator 1.50. And basically you just flatten both layers into a huge 1 layer DVD9 image. Then copy it using any of those HDL apps.
When i use Sony cd/dvd creator 1.5 it tells me that the filesize is too big. Doesnt work. "total sector exceeds the recordable sector"

I get an error when using MGS2S iml. It doesn't seem to work. it just creates the iso in 2 seconds, which is impossible.
Did you copy your original DVD9 with DVD Decrypter? Also make sure you extracted both layers using Apache. Then make sure to put the IML and IMS into the root directory of the folder you extracted the files to. Then use DVDIML2ISO and it should take 2 or so minutes to create the new flattened Iso.
