So according to http://www.liquidcel.com/fat/HDLoaderCL.pdf Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance should work so long as it is ripped and dumped to the H/D.
So here is what I did. I ripped MGS2:Sub, with Nero, into an ISO. I used WinHIIP v1.6.2 to send it to my PS2 H/D. I've tried to play it, and changed the modes, and it don't want to work I've also tested some of the other DVD9 games and got no love. Xenosaga seems to start, but the game is all weird. Any ways, if anyone has any incite as to the compatibility of DVD9 games, I would appreciate it.

There is a way to rebuild a over-sized DVD5 ISO of a DVD9 game so that all the information will be seen. Do a bit search on this forum, then you will know. However for MGS2: Sub, the little skateboard game will not work when all others will.

DVD9 games mean dual layer games. Nero will only rip the first layer (someone correct me if I am wrong please). You need to use a program like Apache or DVD Decrypter to rip both layers. Then you have to combine them, an unfortunately slow process. There are extensive forum threads on this, please search next time.

    *cough* *cough* Here

Maybe someone should sticky it so this stops coming up so much.
