    If you don't know DVD9 is two layer. Layer0 & Layer1.

Here's some infos about Xenosaga & DVD9 games.

Every DVD9 on PS2 is PTP (Parallel Track Path). Every DVD9 needs a "break point" in order to do OTP or PTP. The best results for DVD-Video is OTP over PTP.

I'll talk only about PTP since PS2 uses that one.

PTP means, when rearch the "break point", the laser reader will retract all over to sector 0 again, and start to reading all again, but now on layer 1.

    Here are some the infos:

    Xenosaga

    Region information: not a DVD-VIDEO
    Media code/Manufacturer ID: Pressed DVD
    Format Type: UDF 1.02
    Volume Name
    Application id: LAYSTATION
    Implementation id: VD-ROM GENERATOR
    Recording Date/Time (mm/dd/yyyy): 12/2/2002 13:26:07
    Format Capacity: 7.89GB (8.47GB)
    Book Type: DVD-ROM
    Media Type: DVD-ROM
    Data area starting sector: 30000h
    Data area end sector: 3F17FFh
    Linear Density: 0.293um/bit
    Track Density: 0.74um/track
    Number of Layers: 2
Layer Track Path direction: (PTP) Parallel Track Path

    MGS2 Substance

    Region information: not a DVD-VIDEO
    Media code/Manufacturer ID: Pressed DVD
    Format Type: UDF 1.02
    Volume Name
    Application id: LAYSTATION
    Implementation id: VD-ROM GENERATOR
    Recording Date/Time (mm/dd/yyyy): 10/24/2002 11:31:17
    Format Capacity: 5.99GB (6.44GB)
    Book Type: DVD-ROM
    Media Type: DVD-ROM
    Data area starting sector: 30000h
    Data area end sector: 2FF51Fh
    Linear Density: 0.293um/bit
    Track Density: 0.74um/track
    Number of Layers: 2
Layer Track Path direction: (PTP) Parallel Track Path

I hope these infos help the hdl_dump creators.

hmm this is very intresting nontheless. I hope that the whole dvd 9 issue could be solved with all games 100 percent for the future...other then that ...i also hope that someone can figure out how to get the network adapter to work with hdloader and perhaps even dnas...hmm

K, I was able to acquire Apache, but this stupid program requires dll up the wazoo, and when I did get the right ones, I got this ordinal error, it looks like it is asking of external functions. Any clue how you guys with apache resolve this issue?

K status update. After finally getting that stupid Apache ISO ripper to work I was able to finish the other steps and lo and behold it does work and Xenosaga NTSC US is fully playable on mode 2 after the hdl_dump. Thanks for the info. I also recently acquire Xenosaga Ep 2 DVD5 rips and after dumping them to the drive using the same method it runs without any compatibility changes

What I meant about the same method was using the hdl_dumping utility, not the DVD 9 method hehe my bad on that one.
