Doing a mate a favour.. –
I've ordered Hdadvance, a h/drive and network adaptor for a work mate (for his son for christmas) but he hasn't bought the ps2 yet.
I was wondering if it would be ok to fit and install on my ps2 (quite old version) so that the h/drive is all setup just to fit to his ps2 when he gets it...?
(i've already got a h/drive etc in mine running Hdloader, if thats any help)
Yeah, that should work fine. A harddrive should perform just as well in multiple PS2s with the same data.
Well if you are already running HD Loader you probably know there really isn't much set up to do. The only thing I would be worried about is if the HD will be compatible with his PS2. There seems to be compatibility problems with some HDs and different PS2 models.
Cheers for the quick replies.
About those compatability problems... The kids ps2 will be the latest version (whatever that is at the moment), has anyone heard of problems with these ones? I'll feel a right fool if it won't work after convincing him that it was 'the way to go'
It will be fine. I have done it plenty of times myself. personally i have not run into any problems doing so.
Check ps2drives.x-pec.com for compatibility reports with various combinations of PS2 models and HD drives. Generally you want to stay away from Western Digital (as they have problems fitting with the standard setup). There are also issues with some Seagate drives.
