Do you still need to 'flatten' DVD9s?

I have Metal Gear Solid: Substance and I want to put it on my HD.

I have HDLoader 0.7c fully patched from exploitstation.com and the latest version of hdl_dump.

Do I still need to 'flatten' my DVD9 iso, as described here, or can I just send the iso over and it will work?

Using the latest version of hdl_dump or winhiip you can tranfer dual layer images over without flattening them and they should play fine with hdl 0.7c.

You don't generally need to anymore.

You used to have to flatten them to get hdl_dumx and/or HDLoader to read them, but the latest patched versions recognize the original iso fine.

When 'ripping' a DVD9 image to DVD5 format, for burning on normal single-layer DVD-R media, you will need to 'flatten' it, and probably patch it as well, to make it accept running as a single layer. Similar flattening and patching is also needed, to use such images with all older versions of HDL/HDA, which lack support for dual-layer images.

can you transfer the DVD9 game right off the disc or do you have to make a image with DVDDecrpter?
