hi guys......i think i have a very simple question..............i wanna put PS2 games on my hdd through a PS2 PC network...i have noticed that all the tutorials for this purpose use ExecFTP, to make an FTP connection to the PS2....is this really necessary ? Since I have a chipped PS2, cant I just run the hdl_svr.elf on the PS2 through a CD, then connect the cable to my PC, enter the IP thats shows on my TV screen (output from the hdl_svr.elf file) in my HDL dumb GUI, and send ISO images away ????? Or do I really need ExecFTP ?

ExecFTP is only for transfering files (such as saves, elfs, mp3s, etc) to memcard and hdd. IT IN NO WAY has anything to do with games, you are right when you said just to run run hdl_svr from a cd or whatever means you have. But having a hdd you can setup a parttion with programs in it use execftp to send hdl_svr and whatever else you might want to run and just have lauchelf or something set to boot straight away thus removing the need to burn new cd's every time you want to try new programs or updated versions.

[Personal Rant]I am sick of all the people who think execftp sends games. I read a few of the tutorials a while ago and can't quite remeber waht was in them, but I think it should be made clear to people exactly each program does and doesn't do, as well as a basic quide of how to use it.

I think if it was done and was somewhere that new comers to the scene could read it, attempt for them selves, then post in the forum if they still have trouble as this would reduce the number of people asking noob questions without searching only having someone tell them to search. (I know this has been talked about before and the reason it hasn't been done is simply beacause people don't have the time to put it all together, inculding myself )[/Personal Rant]
