UDMA normally.
The HDLoader patchers also allow you to choose between several different UDMA and MDMA speeds, and similar speed variation is also available as per/game settings I think, in the newer game loader "Open PS2 Loader". But the public release of it does not have IDE HDD support as yet, so this is only available in the beta versions (which require ability to compile the source code yourself). Hopefully this will soon be released as a 'stable' version to the public.

I tried my IDE2SATA converters and none of them worked.
But I need to find one which works properly so It would be
good to know which (letīs say "low level") abilitys the converter needs.
Cause they works in a pc, but most work only with windows
and not in a pure DOS environment.
When it comes to basic drive control you obviously need it all...
Those I would not even consider as proper converters, as they are merely custom interfaces that require custom software (Windows drivers in this case) to make them perform a function that seems compatible to the intended conversion, even though it is not performed as a straight conversion of the SATA hardware signals to PATA compatible form.Cause they works in a pc, but most work only with windows
and not in a pure DOS environment.
Any converter which fails to work in pure DOS/BIOS mode of a PC will also fail in a PS2, since no Windows-related drivers will be present (or even available).
I've never done such SATA-PATA interface conversion myself, but I know that some other site members have, so hopefully some of them will see this and post information about converters suitable for this purpose.
