    hi guys,

last time I did initialize my ps2 HDD in windows (right click in windows- system - computer

management) to make windows find the HDD without hdd utilities. now HDA want to reformat it

and the hdd utilities don't find the drive anymore.

    my questions are now:

    1. what did happen while "initializing the drive"?

    2. can I restore the games without formatting?

thanks in advance. I really need some advice.

    yours,

    J

no you have lost anything, to install things you need to use dedicated programs, windows by initializing the hd has overwritten the mbr with a pc stile mbr and the ps2 can't read it anymore, and if you even made some partition all is lost, for the mbr maybe by rewriting manually but it's really difficult you can restore it

thanks for your answer! how to restore the MBR? are there tools that can restore the PS2 MBR ? I did not create a new partition, so maybe it's not over yet.

tools anything i was just wondering for a possible solution, just stick to a hex editor and try to restore it but i don't know precisely if it will work, the most possible thing is that you'll have to format all and start from a blank hd

    thx

have you heard of a "reset" function in the hd software (R1+R2+L1+L2) ?

so, there is no way to restore the MBR of my disk?

    greetings,

yes but the "reset" function works only if hdloader database is damaged and not the mbr and/or partitions.

I Had the same Problem, but was able to solve it with "WinHIIP_V1.7.6"
if using windows Vista or windows 7 make sure to run WinHIIP_V1.7.6 in administrator mode then choose your ps2-hdd
"it will then say that you don't have any ps2 hdd on your system" (you'll see the hard drive name you choose in the bar next to options)
next go to utillites and choose "scan / repair ps2 harddrive" or "restore ps2 drive structure" then click "fix" then "save" done !!
