Creating large partitions with DMS Format
I found this thread in my search on how to create partitions larger than 4Gb.
I used the same method and it works fine, but 896Mb at a time is just not enough. You have to resize too often for the process to be practical. I found that if you start out with a partition of 4096Mb, you can fill that up and then resize the partition, but do not go over 4096Mb of free space. I never went over 3072 just to be safe. That worked fine for me.
So the process would be:
1) Create a 4096Mb partition with DMS Format Tool
2) Add files to the partition to your heart's content
through whatever means suit you
3) Go back to DMS Format Tool and choose to expand
4) Increase the size of the partition to whatever you
want, but make sure that you do not exceed 4096Mb
of free space.
Reading other threads on the Internet it seems that the 4Gb ceiling is a limitation of ps2dev. To me this says that there are better solutions which probably don't include ps2dev for creating large partitions. Any suggestions?
