    Hi,

after much reading, this is what i derive from the gurus here:-

    1. Get a Network adapter and a 120GB Hdd, preferably a Maxtor.

    2. Get the cogswap installer, and with an ORIGINAL PS1 Game, the elfs will be loaded onto the mem card after installing it.

This is the part i don't understand. After installation, I format the hdd using the tools?
How do I transfer the games to Hdd? Can I do so via FTP?

    Please advise, and thanks.

Btw, why does my hdd spins up, then shutdown (from the sound of it) when it enters the browser screen?

it slows down because u don't have the sony tools installed? so it's not usable (yet, until u loaded launchelf, hdl ect)

anyways u can install games though hdl itself (wit swap magic and swap chip) or u can send it though the network (takes hrs.. it only goes like 500kb a sec)

OR, the best way is to use winhiip and send all ur isos (u can make iso's wit dvd decryptor or the internet way? lol) and the speeds are GREAT it goes like 20mB max! so it takes a min or 2 to install

inorder for ur ps1 disk to boot the elf file u need to install an exploit, and to install the exploit u need some1 that can boot backup disks heh

i reccomend launchelf, then install ftp, hdl, and all ur other elf onto ur hdd! so u can save ur precious mem card space (so 1st install launchelf+execftp on mem card then copy all ur elf onto hdd through ftp) heh

The Sony tools aren't needed at all if you just want to use HDLoader. LaunchELF is highly recommended, but only an option among various other tools that launch the actual applications (like HDLoader). In order to get LaunchELF and HDLoader running on your unmodded console, just search Google or this forum for "memory card exploit", because that's what you're going to need.

Once you have HDL up and running, it's actually very easy to copy your games to the HD. Either install your original discs directly with HDL itself or use HDL_Dumb to transfer ISOs or backup discs from your PC. Actually, I can't recommend networking (FTP) for inexperienced users because it's very slow and can be a bit difficult.

You can create an "exploit" disk so to speak. That is, you burn a cd-r with the exploit and elf and have it install the elf onto the memory card.

Rather than using LaunchElf (Unless you want to install more than one Elf), you should look into using the modified title.db to boot HDL. It works automatically and is simple to use.

For transferring, I'd suggest HDL_dump and a direct link via IDE or USB 2.0 to the PC for transferring ISOs. It's quick and easy.

    V7 PS2 Messiah 2 Pro Mod / Seagate 200GB 7200 RPM HDD
    Ext HDD Mod
Works Like a Charm! Already filled up all 183 gb!

i have installed the exploit disc onto the mem card. when i rebooted my ps2, nothing happens. why?

even with a modded set, would i still need to use original psx disc to trigger it?

    tks

It depends on what version your ps2 is. Also you did inject your psx trigger disk ID into the exploit right? That is, assuming you are using an psx trigger disk.
