How do I get games from my harddrive installed with hdloader onto my pc?(perferably over network w/ ftp) The only reason I want to do this is so I can apply patches and mod games myself so if you have any info on unpacking the files or whatever that would help too. And before you whine that this has been asked before, I've been on these forums all day looking though stuff in general and haven't posted anything.. so here you go.

If you haven't found anything then it's possible you really just don't know what you are looking for. These issues are discussed all the time.
If you want to extract games from HDL over a network I would suggest HDL_dump 0.6 as I don't believe Handiness has network support yet (someone please correct me if I am wrong). However it extracts games as ISO and I believe most patches are for BIN/CUE. Unpacking the files you can use any CD imaging program, most people use ISOBUSTER.
u are correct ps2 handiness does not support network connection, but if u plug ur ps2 hd into ur comp and then run ps2 handiness u can rip the games from ur ps2 hd to ur comp's hd.

Point of advice, whichever program you use to install games onto the HD, whether it be FAPLink, HDL_dump, or Handiness, stick with that program. Using two different ones will more than likely cause corruption of data resulting in you having to reformat the whole thing.
Can I get some tips with hdl_dump? I've read the howto but it's not very long or detailed, especially for network operations.
You have to run the hdld_svr.elf file on the PS2. You can do this with a CD, on the memory card or even over PS2Link.
From there you go to command prompt and type H
hdl_dump inject_dvd "ipaddressofPS2" "Game title" "image filepathname" "SCES_XXX.XX"
Where XXX.XX stands for the SLUS number of your XXX. Just type hdl_dump at the command prompt and you'll see an example.
Or if u want u could just copy the game from its original disc onto ur comp into some sort of image file, apply ur patch, then burn it and copy the burnt disc onto ur ps2 hdd with hdloader.
Decided to just connect my hdd to my pc. I can copy a small game fine, but for a 4gb game like thug hdl_dump says there isn't enough space on my pc's 120gb drive to install it..
