I have been trying this for the past few hours and searching the forum for help, I connected my ps2 to my laptop with a cross-over cable. I installed the HDL_sever and the free HD-Loader on my ps2. So the default ip settings for the ps2 is 192.168.0.10. So on my laptop I manually put in 192.168.0.1 for the ip address and 192.168.0.10 for the gateway, it just doesnt seem that the ps2 wants the ip even though the lights on the ethernet card light up. I also tried it with my router and a patch cable, modifying the router to give out ips in the range of 192.168.0.1-255. My ps2 doesnt grab an ip off the router this way even. The network adapter seems ok and I tested socom online with it to see if it might be broken. I dunno what I'm doing wrong!!! If someone could make me a image of the HDL_server that might be of help, perhaps I made it wrong. Thanks in advance! Is there a special way to access the ps2 to make it grab its ip, all I'm doing is loading into the hd_loader.

I think I figured out the problem, I didn't leave the hdl_server running, I tried to login to my ps2 from my pc while having the hdl_loader running. I didnt try this yet but I hopefully will when I get a chance. Is this the right way of doing it, I have to have the image I created for the hdl_server running at the time I want to access my ps2?

er... you have to have HDL server running for sure... I honestly loaded hdl server through the key launcher just to avoid any problems.

as for the gateway on the laptop.. leave it blank 192.168.0.1 is the gateway the ps2 uses

I figured it out, thanks for input, it was just a stupid mistake of mine, I just didn't leave hdl_server running. I tried for almost a whole day to do this when it was as simple as leaving hdl_server running.
