I wanted to save some space on my mc so using Launchelf, I was able to move my HDADVANC.ELF off my MC to my HDD in the folder of the HD Loader settings without creating another partition. I thought I'd share this with those wondering. I saved about 800kb this way. If there are any other .elfs I wanted to run I could put them on my HDD this way from a thumbdrive or something. Launchelf is the way to go! This is on an unmodded system also.

I'd seriously sugggest leaving __boot alone. It may mess up something in the future. And using the ps2menu-k save partition can screw up ps2menu-k. but if you don't plan to use that program again, then it's pretty safe.

How exactly do you move elf's using launchelf? I'm using version 3.41 and I cant see the option to move anywhere :s

Thanks for the tip tho! Will hopefully gain back my much needed MC space =]

Here is a great tutorial of the functions of Launchelf....It talks about moving files towards the bottom of the tutorial. Paste your .elf into the "HD Loader settings" directory of your HDD. By doing this, you don't have create a partition using the format tool. Ignore that part of the tutorial because that's a pain in the ass lol.

I have also been using the __boot partition for many months (probably a year by now) without any problems. I have every app I use running from it, except for PS2Link.

You wanna go minimum? I used WinHiip to format my drive and set _boot and the others to 0 MB. And so I have no extra partitions whatsoever. I only have 2 partitions: a HDL_Settings partition and a +MP3 partition (which I barely use)... it seems pretty safe to put ELF's in the HDL_Settings partition...
