Child safe HD Loader

How hard would it be to make a patch that removes the install, remove, and rename buttons from HD Loader... have kids that play games on my system... and one of my games got deleted....

besides killing the kid I'd like to know that can't happen again... they have their own MCs to use so I could put the patched version on theirs and still use my HD Loader CD to install and delete games.

I second that motion. Instead of just getting rid of it, could there be like an obscure combination of buttons that had to be pressed to bring up the menu in case we wanted to add or remove games at some point?

well considering that all of the patches for HD Loader are in here this is the most logical location.... Hell I can cross reference this post in all of them so I can at least get it in the right hole... ha, hole... just &*^#ing with ya... I thought about slapping it in Homebrew... but like I said all of the patches are listed here....

As for the key combination might be a bit harder to implement... as kids love pushing buttons... so I'd rather have two copies of the program... and since I do own the disc using the disc to manage my HDD is easy enough.

Oh my, think about the commercial potential of such version. You could fill the 200GB with the latest shit and then install the play-only HDL and rent that sucker for big buck$...

I think that this is a good idea (was pondering this very topic recently) as I have my PS2 hooked up inside an arcade cabinet and would like to not worry that anyone can just delete a game with the push of a few buttons.

yea i agree.... butttttttttt what u might wanna do is a visual kind of thing, use hdl-edit and make the colors of the text (install , remove , rename) all the same color as the background so they cant even been seen... or make it so if u do clcik on delete , that u need to then enter a password...if anyoen can make it happen , then we know who can ! lolololol (hint hint) (cough coough) hey Zero-x make a play only HDL for use peoplewith children in the house playing the system

how about the pass be the konami code....

j/k anyway, we don't have an A or B button... hmm, i know you can just rename the delete button to just be blank, but it won't prevent games being deleted, most of the time if it's kids it's just because they did it on accident, so that wouldn't help.... maybe there is a way to make it so the button is unselectable... let's see what happens

shouldn't be very difficult with a hexeditor no?
