This is challenging –
I have a really challenging problem.
I have DMS3 modchip and a HDL that I start from the memory card.
The HDL list of games appear but whenever I try to load a game I get a black screen, the hard drive, the modes,HDL are all ok because the same hard drive works on other PS2.I have updated the firmware to 2.3.
Help would be really appreciated.
Were the games working before? If so, did the problem start immediately after the firmware upgrade? Have you used both HDLDump and WinHIIP on the same HDD at any given time?
A few more details and maybe a suggestion could be made.
it sounds silly but check that the hard drive is firmly connected
Not only before, games work even now on another PS2. The problem existed before firmware update and it exists now.
The problem is not with the hard drive, I am trying 5 Hard Drives and I get the same result while these hard drives work on another PS2. The problem is with the console, this is 100%.
I had a similiar problem and found if I had a disc in the drive, didnt matter what it was, it would work fine but with no disc in it would do what your saying, when I went to play a game it was just black screen.
Could be the reason. –
So this could be a real approach.

It seems that HDL works in the way that it simulates the CD/DVD drive which in this case will need to be working properly in order for the HDL to work.
Is there any way that I could make this PS2 work only with Memory Card and HDL/Hard Disk?

i eblieve you have a v9/v10 PS2. if so the yoy should patch your hdloader with no no disc seek option(/n parameter) with hdlpatch v0.7c
I`ve had the same problem and this solved it.
BTW: If you use the ulaunchelf remember to disable disk seek in the options, otherwise you won`t be able to read the hdd from that program.
Hope this is of use.

Problem Solved –
Dzedi: IT WORKS PERFECTLY, THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
I had to reinstall the chip again because I had removed the chip as I thought that there is no hope for that console.I was about to throw it out.
