thanks for the help everyone but i think i'll just give up on using the exploit and put the ELF files onto the hd and use a cd with keylauncher instead.
I could never get my custom exploit to work, but I downloaded a TITLES.DB from this forum that worked with many (all?) USA PSX games and it worked fine for me. Only problem is that it was a big file to have to store on the memorycard.
The reason i asked becoz, i had a similar problem (though mine boots directly into games, but yours just won't boot at all)
Found out that for my jap PS2 i had to have two separate BXDATA-SYSTEM folders
- one BIDATA-SYSTEM to store my custom TITLE.DB
- and on BADATA-SYSTEM to store all the elfs (including BOOT.ELF)
Was nearing pulling my hair out trying to get exploit to work coz my machine is a non-mod, and i already bought the Network adapter without a bootable HDLoader disc.
As for my suggestion
I believe u should *at least* get your PS1 disc to boot first
Coz practically, this exploit will be 'triggered' when PS1 boots, look up it's SLUS name on a TITLE.DB
like mine...TITLE.DB was correct, but misplaced.....so all my previous tweaks and redo's of TITLE.DB were all wasted attempts
If you exploit your system, and you install LaunchELF, if you select boot CD from drive option, will LaunchELF boot a backup? Just wondered if the PS2 does a validation before booting all ELFs or if the system is completely compramized with the exploit.
hmmm interesting notice....it might work.
