Can't get Hdloader to run off of MC with MI
Can't get Hdloader to run off of MC with MI –

I have a v10 with Matrix inifity running 1.93 firmware. For the life of me I can't get several different hdloader .elf's to run off the memory card. The program will load and will get into the menu but the moment I select a game I get a black screen of death. The funny thing is it works off the Hdloader (not original) CD! I've tried these elf's and the NA/HD combo on my other V10 with DMS3 chip and it works great. I also tried it on a buddie's V7 with crystal chip and it also works great. I've tried ulauncher and directly booting the HDloader elf file without any success. Thanks in advance for any help.

Please try to be more precise in describing your problem. You next text line makes it clear that you did succeed in running HDLoader, and that it was HDLoader which failed to run the selected game. That is an entirely different problem.

Your problem could be a variation of the infamous problem of patching HDL incorrectly for the intended usage, with or without a disc in the tray.
With a disc in the tray you need the /S switch, to save your laser.
With no disc in the tray you need the /N switch, to enable HDL to start.
For PS2 models older than V9, it's possible to patch HDL with both the /N and the /S switches, and for those models this will allow HDL to boot fine either with a disc in the tray or without one. But for PS2 models like V9 and newer that will NOT work. You can then either patch HDL to work with a disc in the tray, or patch it to work without one, but you can't have both features at once in the same ELF.
Check your patching to see if this might apply to your problem.

Thanks for the quick reply. Sorry about the confusing post, I meant the program will load, but will freeze as soon as I select a game to start. But you might be right about the incorrect switches. I'll need to find a clean copy of the HDL elf and patch it myself. I have the original HDL disc but don't know how to extract the elf file.

There's no need for you to search or extract that file by yourself. A clean copy, suitable for patching, is nowdays included in the release post by Zer0-X. So you can get it there, at http://www.psx-scene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27640.
