    Hi there,

    Im new to this stuff, so I'll give you a quick rundown on where im at. My laser stopped reading my backups, so i bought a new laser and fitted it, which didnt solve the problem. So i decided to put a HDD into my ps2 and copy the games over via ftp using hdloader to boot them, eliminating the use of the laser.

    Currently I load execftps which I have on CD, I can access the Ps2 using flashfxp and i can write to the mem card, but when i try and put a 4.5gb iso file onto the HDD, it does nothing and eventually disconnects me. I cant reconnect either until I have restarted execftps on the ps2.

    Can anyone help me out ? I've tried hdl dump but that wouldnt 'attach' to the ps2.

    cheers,

    it has been established already that isos cannot be FTPed in any way. You can always just take your HD out and plug it into the PC

    Thats not nessicarily true. All you have to do is download hdld_dump (from the main page of ps2-scene), burn the hdld_svr.elf to a cd, along with the nessicary system.cnf file, and once it boots, run the exe file included in the package. Then (assuming your computer is networked to the ps2) select the .iso file and click transfer or whatever button you would need to hit... If it cannot connect, make sure:
    1. your ip addresses match and
    2. youre using a crossover cable, not a straight cable

    Whenever you put an .elf onto a cd, you need a file called system.cnf to make it run. So, open up notepad, and copy this into it and save it as system.cnf (make sure it doesnt add the .txt ending):

    BOOT2 = cdrom0:\HDLD_SVR.ELF;1
    VER = 1.00
    VMODE = NTSC

    or for PAL:

    BOOT2 = cdrom0:\HDLD_SVR.ELF;1
    VER = 1.00
    VMODE = PAL

    Wicked - Im going to try it now. I'll let you know how I get on. If I'm not back in 5-10 mins then presumably the iso will be copying!

    cheers again

    ok, i seem to have got that working but it looked like it was going to take a while. So i though id ask about the compatibility flags before letting it do all the copying. should i tick any of these 3 modes ? The game is GTA:SA.

    cheers,

    lambaster...plz dont spam . theres an edit feature you can use. gta: sa doesnt need any modes it plays fine w/o it. and lastly networking is almost as slow as copying from hdloader. sticking it in the pc speeds it up alot if you already have the image ready.

    the problem i have been having is that i cannot even access the ps2 for some reason i cannot find out the ip of my ps2 unless someone has a way i have tried the execftp way to try and find it out but just doesn't seem to do it (this is probably directly linked to the lan problem thread i have made in the mem card hacking category if someone could helpfully reply there)
