    I opened up COD to try and reduce the size of it when I opened up the dummy file with a hex editor it was filled with data, but it looks like it is just useless data. Do they fill up dummy files with junk sometimes? The data is repetitive and contains paths to locations on a computer and also has a reference to xbox/ I'll paste some of the text so you can see for yourself. Any comments appriciated

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio .NET\Common7\Tools\"windir=C:\WINDOWS.XDK=C:\Progr am Files\Microsoft Xbox SDK
    COMPUTERNAME=PBOWMAN
    ComSpec=C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe

    For some reason I couldn't paste the text I had to type most of it but its definatly not info related to my PC

    i saw the same thing when i opened it up in hex workshop. i'm going to try to replace it with a small dummy file and see if it works... hopefully the game doesnt need the file as some kind of "check".

    does this game require a certain date/timestap patch (d1, d2, d3)?

    Er, can't you search the rest of the files, to see if that supposed dummy file is actually referenced?

    I replaced the dummy file with a 0 byte one and the game works fine so far. I didn't do any of the time/date stamp patchs

    this post mentions the dummies in call of duty.

    Jeex, somone had requested that thread be renamed before.. there is some good info in there now and most of it doesn't have anything to do with GTA 3
